Jordan Reeves
Background
Jordan Reeves spent over a decade as a software engineer before retirement planning took over his life. The trigger was personal: watching family members on three continents get fragmented, country-by-country advice that never reconciled into a single picture. An adviser in one country optimised a pension without knowing about an account in another; a rule of thumb that worked at 45 quietly failed at 65.
So he built the thing he wanted to exist — a projection engine that runs a household's finances month by month, from today until death, across every account and jurisdiction at once. Talk Through Wealth is that engine, made usable. Every number in every post on this site comes out of software Jordan wrote, which is the whole point: the authority here is built, not borrowed.
Jordan is 51, lives in Austin, Texas, and has lived and worked in Toronto and London. He still holds a small residual Canadian RRSP and minor UK National Insurance credits from those years — the multi-jurisdiction angle is real for him, not a marketing line.
Credentials, plainly
Jordan is an engineer who built a retirement model. He is not a Chartered Financial Planner, a CPA, or a regulated investment adviser, and nothing on this site is personal advice. What he brings is the "Experience" signal Google's EEAT framework rewards — the numbers come from a system he designed and can defend line by line. Where a post relies on a statutory rule, it cites the regulator (HMRC, GOV.UK, the IRS, the ATO, Service Canada) directly, never "experts say."
Conflicts statement
Talk Through Wealth is a software product. It does not sell investments, take commissions on any product, or earn referral fees from pension providers, banks, or insurers. Jordan holds ordinary personal investments (index funds, a pension, an ISA from his UK years, a residual RRSP) and no position whose value depends on which option a reader chooses. The app charges for itself, not for steering you toward a product. Last updated: 2026-06-19.
The recurring cast
Jordan narrates real decisions through a small, recurring cast so the worked examples belong to people, not to invented strangers. You'll meet them across the posts:
- Maya Reeves — his spouse (Austin, TX); US dual-earner and spousal-coordination cases.
- Walt & Diane Reeves — his parents (Cleveland, OH); Social Security and Medicare-stage decisions.
- Eleanor & Gerry Tessier — his in-laws (Vancouver, BC); Canadian OAS, CPP and RRIF retrospectives.
- Tom Whitfield — his best friend from his London years (Manchester); UK SIPP, ISA, auto-enrolment and inheritance cases.
- Cass Reeves — his sister (Sydney); Australian super and concessional-cap decisions.
- Mark Lavoie — his former manager from Toronto (Mississauga); Canadian CPP-claiming and bridge decisions.
